The project‘s interface doesn’t need any alterations to the Amiga – one only has to remove the internal floppy and put the interface and the Raspberry PI where they must be. And now that the floppy drives have become extinct, truly extinct, here’s a DIY that tries to emulate Amiga using Raspberry Pi.Ī $10 dollar project, this one is a great learning opportunity for students as all it takes is 74LS06 chip, a couple of resistors and diodes, a protoboard and of course the Pi. Its floppy controller was basic but much more flexible than the one on the PC: it was free of arbitrary format restrictions, encoding such as MFM and GCR could be done in software, and developers were able to create their own proprietary disc format, says Wikipedia about it. I'm beginning to think my internal drive doesn't like HD disks.Amiga was one of the special types of floppy drives. I tough that the other 2 old HD disks were defective but know I'm not so certain about that. I manage to format 2 of 4 older Sony HD disks ( green paper case model) that I had here in this Amiga but this new ones fail. Something like a dirty fd0 or misaligned head or something completely different? The strange thing is that when writing there was no error, but when verifying there was it again. tried to copy the WB disk to another new Sony HD disk. It starts formatting - it says formatting and verifying cyl 0 two or three times and then quits with the following message: ![]() Asks me to insert the disk to be initialized and I do that and say Continue when it warns me that all data will be erased.Ħ. It asks me for WB 1.3.2, so I switch the disks againĥ. An icon with "DF0:BAD" appears - I click on it, then right click on Disk and select InitializeĤ. I eject the WB disk and insert formatted HD diskģ. My problem is that I can't format anyone of those babes in my Amiga 500!Ģ. Just bought from a local store some boxes of brand new/sealed Sony 2HD Floppy disks: ![]()
